A LETTER FROM NMMLP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ANDREA QUIJADA

New Mexico Media Literacy Project has continued to grow and change to meet the needs of the communities we serve during an exciting summer for us. Our critical work on our DTV transition campaign led us to provide hundreds of much-needed converter boxes to New Mexicans at no cost, and our current partnership with Channel 27's Indy Media program allows for our programs to reach new audiences. In addition, our office has been re-energized with the unexpected support from two outstanding volunteers, Mimi Adams and Dylan Cascio, who have spent countless hours providing administrative and technological assistance to our organization. If you stop by our office, please give them a hello and a big thank you!

Our latest news, which I share with just as much excitement, is the addition of two new staff members to the NMMLP family. Candelario Vazquez and Marion Duignan will be with us for a year as VISTAs through the Transmission Project’s Digital Arts Service Corps initiative. We are extremely honored and grateful to have been selected to receive such talented and committed individuals. Please take a moment to read their introductions below and give them a warm welcome to New Mexico!

Thanks to all of you for your support of NMMLP as we move forward while remaining rooted in our mission of cultivating critical thinking and activism in our media culture.

In community,

Andrea Quijada
Executive Director
